Abdullah Al-Harbi, the CEO of the Saudi company that produced the advanced technical fabrics, said that the Saudi company competed with 5 international companies that have more than 50 years of experience to supply the fabrics for the opening match stadium. Al-Harbi explained that the fabrics are made of polyester threads coated with PVC material, and are used in construction projects at airports, stadiums, stations, and projects around the world. The opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 was held on Thursday, where the Mexican team won against the South African team with two clean goals, at the historic Azteca stadium in Mexico City. The Saudi industry was present at the Azteca stadium, through 4,000 square meters of advanced technical fabrics, which were used to cover the opening match stadium.
