The Saudi Arabia national football team started its journey in the FIFA World Cup 2026 with a 1-1 draw against Uruguay, on the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, USA, in the first round of Group H. Our goal is to perform well and try to qualify for the next stage, this is the goal we are seeking to achieve and reach, according to Saudi Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal. We are competing in a difficult group, all the teams in our group are very strong in physical, mental, technical and other aspects. But I think our team has the necessary capabilities to achieve something, so we hope for the best and hope to be able to achieve it. The Saudi Arabia national football team is playing in Group H of the FIFA World Cup 2026, alongside Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde, and each team has earned one point after the end of the first round. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal also revealed the preparation to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, saying: Several things are combined; logistical services, facilities, communication, and building a base for the future of football in the Kingdom. He added: Our goal is not only to host the FIFA World Cup 2034 successfully, but also to form a team capable of achieving success and making a difference in the tournament. He continued: Our best performance in the World Cup was in 1994 in the United States, where we qualified for the round of 16, and since then, we have faced difficulties in surpassing this stage and reaching further stages. He went on: We faced difficulties at one stage even in qualifying for the tournament itself, but now we are competing strongly, and our teams are participating in the Asian Cup at high levels, competing for titles, so this upward momentum must continue towards reaching advanced stages in the global tournament.
